Catalysta

Marketplace connecting Latin American art, artists and collectors.

Context

Catalysta brings artworks, artists, collections and editorial content together in one place, built around discovering and collecting Latin American art. Three kinds of users needed their own experience: artists, collectors and admins.

What I built

The web app: the marketplace, artist and artwork pages, sign-in and favorites, and separate flows for artists submitting work, collectors and admins.

Features

  • Artwork marketplace
  • Artist profiles
  • Collections
  • Sign-in and favorites
  • Artist submissions
  • Secondary market
  • Editorial journal
  • Inquiry emails

Under the hood

Three kinds of users

Artists, collectors and admins each get their own flows: artists submit their work, collectors save favorites and browse collections, and admins manage the whole catalog.

Migrating the catalog

The existing artwork catalog was moved into Supabase with import scripts that parse and load the data in batches.

Instagram on autopilot

The site pulls in the gallery's Instagram posts, and a weekly Vercel cron job keeps the connection refreshed so nobody has to do it by hand.
